Hi Viraf,

Let me remind you that, as part of the community, you are welcome to try and give a better image of Dokeos by offering your own information first, or trying to avoid asking the same question repeatedly (which are a time loss for everybody involved). To avoid repetition, I have answered your posts in the forum. If your questions are not answered in the forum, it is either that:
- nobody knows the answer
- nobody has the time to answer right now because we are all very busy coding an excellent e-learning solution for you to use for free

Regarding the theoretical limit:
- users who can register: should be about 1.2 Million (this is due to the fact that the users directories can be split into 10 subdirectories, but that a file system can only support up to 110000 sub-directories in the same directory)
- users who can be signed on concurrently: we have tried up to 250 on a single server (same server for PHP and MySQL), and the University of Gent reportedly has about 35000 logins per day (probably in a 10 hours scope), which would probably mean a very minimum of 10 requests per second (and more probably something like 50 requests per second at peak time)
- users who can videoconference simultaneously: as I said on the forum, we have tried up to 15, we don't know about more but 200 is a theoretical number. You are welcome to provide more accurate values there (these will probably be highly dependent on the hardware and software you put around the videoconference service)

Hi Yannick:

How are you? Hope all's well. I posted a question for the Dokeos Development team regarding Dokeos Medical Delineation and Imaging Test Tool (DMDITT) on the forum a little over a week ago, but haven't gotten a reply. I'm hoping you will be able to answer it. Here it is:

http://www.dokeos.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=16336

I also posted the following question over 6 weeks ago regarding the maximum number of concurrent Dokeos users.

http://www.dokeos.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=15663

Can you please let me know what the experience of the Dokeos team is for such real world scenarios?

Also, is there a theoretical Dokeos limit for the maximum number of:

- Users who can register
- Users who can be signed on concurrently, and
- Users who can videoconference simultaneously

Thank you for your help.

Regards,

Hi Tiago,

If you ask for it, we currently need someone to review the gradebook part of Dokeos (in the development version of Dokeos). Basically, it is far too complicated to use right now, and it has a few set of wierd conditions (like you cannot get a certificate if there's it's not a course-dependent grade and things like that).

We don't have much to offer apart from our eternal gratefulness and your name as a Dokeos contributor, but if you just want to spend a few hours a week doing that, and you think you can do a good job before the end of september, you're very welcome to give us a hand.
As I always say, the code isn't great, but it's a great app and it gives us plenty of space to improve the code quality :-)

I'm actually quite ashamed. I didn't know about these problems and the fault is apparently at least half mine. There was an horrible mixup in the commit of the resource files.

Anyway, Arnaud is also the best :-) I just had to commit and use his scripts to test the compilation.

I didn't try the results of the compilation though, so let me know if anything goes wrong. At least you can compile now.

Hi Yannick,

I followed your instructions for re-compiling the VideoConf 2.0 module, but apparently there are some files which are missing in the SVN. I checked the forum for solutions, and have found that other users are experiencing similar problems too. Here is the post explpaining what other users, and I have experienced:

http://www.dokeos.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=42747#42747

The posts are about two months old, and nobody has offered any solutions, so I was wondering if you could kindly look into it whenever you get some time.

Thank you for your help.

Regards,

Hi there,

I'm replying right now, but the answer to how to change images inside the classroom.swf is complicated enough. Please see on the forum in a few minutes.
You can generally expect an answer in a week, any more than that and I give you the right to complain directly to me :-)
